Many thanks to all the Sponsors of MedComms Networking

Every Tuesday we send out the MedComms Networking email newsletter to subscribers. It includes brief commentary on what we're doing and planning, and highlights relevant news to encourage sharing of information, experiences and ideas and to stimulate discussion. The text and links included below, by definition, were accurate on the day of publication, but may then become outdated.

    MedComms Networking - 24 January 2017

First, a huge "shout out" to integrated medhealth communication (imc), our newest Sponsor of MedComms Networking. Thanks, Guys! They join an illustrious group of leading agencies providing support and guidance. As I always say, "none of all this could happen without them."

I've suggested before that maybe every week should be "Hug a Sponsor week" - but this week it should certainly apply. It's looking highly likely now that I will indeed survive beyond 25 January 2017 to see MedComms Networking reach its 10th birthday. And - as I hurriedly re-write these words - we've even just reached 100 supporters of our #MedComms Thunderclap! Listen for the thunder at 12.00 BST tomorrow, Wednesday. We can make it lots louder still though, so please, if you've not done so yet, visit the Thunderclap page and support us on Facebook and Twitter by clicking on one or more of the Support buttons.

I can still squeeze more in if you want to join us in Oxford but haven't yet signed up. Let me know. (Please don't just turn up on the night, though, as you're unlikely to get in!).

Whether or not you're joining us in Oxford please, everyone, use Twitter and your Linkedin status and more to give #MedComms a big shout out tomorrow. Dig out some old photos and share your memories of the last 10 years, tell us what your best moments have been or just write "Happy Birthday #MedComms!". If you want a name check, feel free to send me a message to read out on the night and I'll do what I can to include everyone.

MedComms work is worthwhile work. Let's be loud and proud for a day.

Meanwhile, a big shout out as well to the organisers of last week's European meeting of the International Society for Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP) in London. The best yet I'd say, though I wish they'd allow even more, fully open, discussion. In my opinion, there's a little too much focus on stating what we know we should be doing and not enough on openly discussing what's actually sometimes happening in the real world.

Importantly, last week we had the launch of a joint position statement of the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA), the European Medical Writers Association (EMWA), as well as ISMPP, describing the appropriate role of professional medical writers in the development of medical and scientific publications. Please share the news.

I'm delighted Chris Winchester of Oxford PharmaGenesis, one of the authors of that position statement, will present details at the MedComms Brunch Club meeting on 5 April.

Before that don't forget tomorrow ISMPP is running a special 90-minute educational webinar, Graphical Presentation of Data in Medical Publications, which is complimentary to ALL, regardless of ISMPP membership status!

Importantly also note our second MedComms Landscape Training day for new starters is taking place in Macclesfield on 7 March.

Enjoy your week, everyone. I intend to enjoy mine! See you on the other side.
