Many thanks to all the Sponsors of MedComms Networking

Every Tuesday we send out the MedComms Networking email newsletter to subscribers. It includes brief commentary on what we're doing and planning, and highlights relevant news to encourage sharing of information, experiences and ideas and to stimulate discussion. The text and links included below, by definition, were accurate on the day of publication, but may then become outdated.

    MedComms Networking - 18 April 2017

I'm delighted to confirm that Envision Pharma Group have now joined our elite group of sponsoring companies. Thanks, guys! None of all this MedComms Networking activity can happen without the continued support and guidance of these Sponsors. Give me a shout at any time if you want your agency to join in the fun.

A good example of where the Sponsors are currently helping, is in enabling the monthly Brunch Club meetings here in Oxford where we film presentations to add to the growing collection of webcasts that you can view via the MedComms YouTube channel or at It's great to see we've almost 100 subscribers now to alerts from the YouTube Channel. It's definitely my favourite project at the moment! The webcasts are all freely available to you, wherever in the world you are, and I spent much of this last weekend working on a new website to provide better access to them. The idea was always to launch the new website if we hit 50 webcasts and that point, all being well, is just a few weeks away now. I'm reasonably happy with the style and functionality, but my challenge is how to index what I hope will become a truly valuable and comprehensive reference resource for the global MedComms community. Watch this space.

So this week's task should you wish to accept it... think of MedComms in its widest context and think how might a useful information reference library be indexed. The 40 plus videos that are already up provide quite a good starting point, I think, but the aim is to end up with a much more comprehensive resource over time.

Any thoughts? How would you index such a resource? Would you care to guide me?

Meanwhile, and importantly in case you missed the news last week, the latest four presentations are all well worth watching and sharing with colleagues, but I'd particularly draw your attention to the AMWA-EMWA-ISMPP joint position statement on the role of professional medical writers featuring Chris Winchester of Oxford PharmaGenesis (already more than 200 views) and Unpacking the evidence behind the AMWA-EMWA-ISMPP Joint Position Statement featuring Paul Farrow also of Oxford PharmaGenesis. The Joint Statement is seen by the three membership organisations as an important initiative and it's worth sharing as much as possible. The beauty of the way we're hosting these webcasts on YouTube means they are easily shared and embedded by anyone, so please feel free.

If you can join us, our next Brunch Club on 3 May should be excellent, and includes presentations about ORCID, Altmetric and the EQUATOR Network.

Yes, of course, the point is you can watch the webcasts later on, but how much more useful is it to meet the speakers and chat with them directly?

Enjoy your week, everyone. Note; the programme is now finalised for the next event in London on 11 May, Scientific storytelling and audience engagement, hosted by AMICULUM. We've plenty of space at this one so please join us.
