Many thanks to all the Sponsors of MedComms Networking

Every Tuesday we send out the MedComms Networking email newsletter to subscribers. It includes brief commentary on what we're doing and planning, and highlights relevant news to encourage sharing of information, experiences and ideas and to stimulate discussion. The text and links included below, by definition, were accurate on the day of publication, but may then become outdated.

    MedComms Networking - 12 March 2019

I'll start by mentioning, again, that at this time of the year I ask the current Sponsors of MedComms Networking - very nicely - if they'll continue to support us. Most have now said "yes" - many thanks to them - but I'm still waiting on a few. So, please, if you spot a Sponsor this week, give them a hug and say thanks! It might encourage them along.

It's simply the case that none of all this MedComms Networking activity would happen without them (and, to be honest, we could do with more so, if you want to join them please shout!).

It's also that time of year when my thoughts turn, somewhat nervously to MedComms Day. We'll celebrate our 8th annual Day in the Life of MedComms on Wednesday 12 June 2019 and I'm delighted that Media Contacts confirmed today they'll be our Sponsors this year. So, kudos to Julia Walton and her team for taking the lead, and indeed for all the support they provide, in particular for the service. Please mark MedComms Day in your diary and get ready to dust off your Twitter account and use hashtag #MedComms.

Last year during MedComms Day we saw requests on social media for a special hashtag for #MedCommsDogs. Mine, Ted (who's currently sleeping beside me) certainly intends to find his MedComms hat and join in. He's been inspired by the recent video from Havas Life Medicom - Wuff Day at the Office Ah, bless. There's a behind the scenes video as well!

Last week I attended a training course about use of video on social media. Apparently more than 90 percent of people have their Facebook account set to auto-play videos. And 80 percent watch those videos without sound... Allegedly. Think about that, though. Mostly the advice was that videos should be very short with subtitles where needed and, ideally, fluffy baby animals! (Seriously, have you seen the Baby Duck Slide?). We're clearly getting it wrong at but those of you with an attention span of more than 30 seconds should find plenty to interest you.

One tip - if you're playing with video on your phone, have you tried the KineMaster video editing App? Quite remarkably easy to use.

Meanwhile, and more seriously now, Ryan Woodrow asked me to send on a message. "Got an idea for a medical publishing news story? The Publication Plan is now welcoming guest articles. For those of you that don't know, The Publication Plan is a freely accessible news resource for everyone interested in the development of medical publications and for people involved in medical writing and publication planning. The Publication Plan curates and delivers the latest industry updates via its website and other social media channels. If you would like to contribute please contact: for more information.

Remember, details of all our activities are kept bang up-to-date at or give me a shout at any time if you've any questions, comments or suggestions.
