Many thanks to all the Sponsors of MedComms Networking

Every Tuesday we send out the MedComms Networking email newsletter to subscribers. It includes brief commentary on what we're doing and planning, and highlights relevant news to encourage sharing of information, experiences and ideas and to stimulate discussion. The text and links included below, by definition, were accurate on the day of publication, but may then become outdated.

    MedComms Networking - 11 April 2017

It's that time of the year when the Sponsors of MedComms Networking are asked to continue their support for another year and I'm delighted that more or less all have now confirmed that ongoing commitment. It is then a simple fact that more support means we do even more. So let's have a huge shout out this week please for Aspire Scientific who are the latest to join the elite group of leading companies, helping us maintain and build this specialist community activity that so many around the world benefit from. Thank you, guys.

MedComms Networking has been around for more than a decade and I've seen the launch of a number of new agencies that are now going from strength to strength; and Aspire Scientific is one such. The Directors, Ryan Woodrow and Rick Flemming have been active participants in MedComms Networking activities throughout the years, speaking at and helping organise various activities, particularly in the North West of the UK. Ryan should certainly claim a medal for organising those annual Rounders Tournaments! And, frankly, they're making a much better job of running The Publication Plan information service than I ever did. Kudos guys!

But keep on watching this space. At least one maybe two more agencies are about to confirm their support as well. More news soon.

Meanwhile, and importantly, we had another excellent Brunch Club meeting last week. Many thanks to all who participated. Once again we've quickly posted the free webcasts for your enjoyment, wherever in the world you are. All four talks are well worth watching and sharing with colleagues, but I'd particularly draw your attention to Chris's presentation about the new AMWA-EMWA-ISMPP joint position statement on the role of professional medical writers and Paul's talk about the evidence that underlies that statement:

  • AMWA-EMWA-ISMPP joint position statement on the role of professional medical writers featuring Chris Winchester of Oxford PharmaGenesis

  • Unpacking the evidence behind the AMWA-EMWA-ISMPP Joint Position Statement featuring Paul Farrow of Oxford PharmaGenesis

  • Beyond #medcomms: Enhancing appropriate social media use in the medical communications industry featuring Saundra Hemmings of Oxford PharmaGenesis

  • Strategic communications planning and the role of the MedComms agency featuring Adrian Brown, a Training Consultant in Healthcare Communications.

  • As always you can view the videos directly, via the MedComms Youtube channel or at where the plan was always to start organising the library of content properly once we hit 50 webcasts, which is just a few weeks away now. I'd particularly encourage you to organise your own lunch and learns, stream a webcast and discuss how it impacts on your team's practice. As Chris says in his webcast about the role of professional medical writers, we should be proud of what we do in MedComms. Let's spread the word!

Enjoy your week, everyone. By the way, the programme is now finalised for the next event in London on 11 May, Scientific storytelling and audience engagement, hosted by AMICULUM. We've plenty of space at this one so please do join us.
