    MedComms Networking - 09 May 2017

    Hi

Lots happening again today, so please forgive the rush. Keep an eye on MedCommsNetworking.com for full and up-to-the-minute details of everything.

Last week we had a stellar line-up at our Brunch Meeting and we've just posted the first two new webcasts, with two more coming very soon at NetworkPharma.tv or you can view them all via the MedComms YouTube Channel. These are all freely accessible to anyone anywhere. Enjoy them in your own time or, for instance, stream them for a team meeting.

    1. The EQUATOR Network: supporting writers to publish high-impact health research - Caroline Struthers of The EQUATOR (Enhancing the QUAlity and Transparency Of health Research) Network describes how this international initiative promotes transparent and accurate reporting and wider use of robust reporting guidelines.

    2. Altmetric data, services, and platform: An overview - Ben McLeish of Altmetric explains how this data science company is dedicated to tracking and analyzing the online activity around scholarly research outputs, and how you can use their tools to your advantage.

These Brunch meetings are excellent. And we're always delighted to have a small audience on the day so join us when you can and grab the opportunity to meet the speakers. The next one is 14 June (later in the month than usual because of MedComms Day on 7 June).

This week we've a good large crowd joining us in London on Thursday to talk about Scientific storytelling and audience engagement, which I'm very much looking forward to. Many thanks to AMICULUM for putting this one together for us. We do have space for more so feel free to sign up in the usual way by emailing me directly.

I'm always happiest when I see our meetings directly leading on to additional useful activity and I'm delighted that we're following the meeting we had in March with the representatives from Copyright Clearance Center (CCC), with a second event now on 24 May in London. The CCC have helped us set up a meeting with a useful group of leading publishers to address the practical challenges we'd identified and to work together to explore sensible solutions. Following the meeting we're aiming to publish a summary report and all being well the CCC will run a free webinar for everyone's benefit. Frankly, this one should be fascinating.

The discussions at the Lunch and Learns supported by Concise in March (Oxford, New York, Macclesfield and San Francisco) about the use of technology to optimise audience engagement at industry events were also very useful and they've been written up as a summary report, which is now free for everyone to download.

Meanwhile we're still keen to hear from anyone who would like to contribute to FirstMedCommsJob.com which is going from strength to strength. We've another full-house for our upcoming careers event in Oxford on 22 May and we'll shortly announce details for our next open event in Manchester on 14 September.

Oh, and did I mention MedComms Day is on 7 June? Do join in the fun.

    Cheers
