Every Tuesday we send out the MedComms Networking email newsletter to subscribers. It includes brief commentary on what we're doing and planning, and highlights relevant news to encourage sharing of information, experiences and ideas and to stimulate discussion. MedComms Networking - 05 June 2018

I'm sending this to arrive with you at just after midnight, New Zealand time on 6 June. So, here we go again. That's the official start of this year's Celebration of a Day in the Life of MedComms, aka #MedComms Day 2018. Our 7th such annual global event. In fairness I'm not expecting much activity for a few hours yet, but one never knows. Is anyone up very early (or very late)? We'll end as the sun sets somewhere on the West coast of the USA. And who knows what'll happen in between. If the past six years are anything to go by, it should be busy - and hopefully fun. Frankly, though, I've no idea exactly what will happen or when, over the coming hours, as we travel through the day across the globe and through the time zones. Once again, I'll simply be making it up as I go.

Importantly, I'd like to give a huge early shout out to Concise who are sponsoring this year's event again.

Please don't leave me sitting here with nothing to do! Once again I'll post your stories, news, photos, videos and whatever else comes my way from around the world. Please spread the word, point everyone at and as before we'll use hashtag #MedComms to embrace the Twitter experience throughout.

The idea is you all get involved however you like, in your own style, in your own time zone, but here are simple suggestions to help catalyse the action:

1 - everyone, when you arrive at your desks on 6 June, start your working day by adding a Status Update to your Linkedin profile along the lines of "I'm celebrating #MedComms Day today..." and link to the web site at

2 - if you're on Twitter please tweet messages through the day ensuring you use the hashtag #MedComms and point people at the web site at wherever possible

3 - most importantly, at least once and maybe more often, email me something to post on from wherever you are in the world. We want stories, insights, pictures, videos and more.

The idea is to see a wave of activity appearing throughout the day as the time zones switch on and switch off.

Remind yourself what happened last year, and the five years before that at and let's make this year bigger, better and bolder.

Importantly, if you've not already done so, please support our Thunderclap. We need 100 supporters before we hear the Thunder and we've a way to go yet! Liking/sharing/retweeting links about Thunderclap all helps but I need people/organisations to specifically support it to build the numbers to launch the message at 12.00 BST on 6 June.

Any questions anytime, give me a shout. Please, as always, help spread the word and encourage all relevant others to join in. Come on #MedComms - prepare to be loud and proud for one day at least!
