Every Tuesday we send out the MedComms Networking email newsletter to subscribers. MedComms Networking - 04 April 2017

First a big shout out this week, please, to Julia Walton and her team of MedComms Recruitment Specialists at Media Contacts who'll help us develop some additional services at to support people looking for their first job in MedComms. The most common complaint, though, that I hear from MedComms agencies across the community is they can't recruit enough experienced staff. It seems everyone's very busy at the moment. If you are recruiting please consider working with any of these MedComms specialist recruiters who do specifically support this community. Help them to help us.

One of my favourite aspects of working on our annual careers guide, From academic to medical writer, A guide to getting started in medical communications, is collecting the quotes from people who are currently working in MedComms. This year we did it slightly differently and instead of focusing only on people who had started in the last year, we opened it up to everyone and ended up with three pages of great quotes, which I've now re-posted here; I work in MedComms...". How about sharing that one page with everyone you know on Linkedin and Twitter and Facebook today? Let's hear it for #MedComms!

One of the more useful tools I've created for anyone looking for a job is my Google Map of UK-based MedComms agencies. This week I came across an agency I'd not known about, IndigoMedical in Milton Keynes. There must be more I haven't found yet, so do let me know if I'm missing yours. And let me know straightaway if you spot errors or broken links! It's always slightly embarrassing but I'd rather know of an error and fix it and, in fairness to me, it's difficult to keep up with office moves and mergers. I've also started maps for Asia Pacific, Mainland Europe and North America/Canada but they're still works in progress and I'd welcome help in adding more relevant offices in.

Last week my mission was to pass 500 views of our latest free webcast Use of social media (and digital features) to maximise the impact of your research and we smashed it! Indeed we're well on our way to 600 now. So, many thanks if you helped spread the word. Tomorrow we've another Brunch Club meeting and we'll film another four presentations. You're welcome to join us to meet the Speakers if you'd like to. If you can't join us then watch this space where we'll post the webcasts as soon as we can for free access by everyone, everywhere.

One event I'd love to attend this month, but sadly can't, is a PM Society event that's just been announced - Maximising the agency and procurement relationship in pharma in London on 26 April. If you go can you share your thoughts with us all?

To finish, here's one for your next tea break if you've not seen it yet. This story must surely have had many in MedComms applauding yesterday; Meet the 'Grammar Vigilante' of Bristol. Enjoy.
