Every Tuesday we send out the MedComms Networking email newsletter to subscribers. It includes brief commentary on what we're doing and planning, and highlights relevant news to encourage sharing of information, experiences and ideas and to stimulate discussion. The text and links included below, by definition, were accurate on the day of publication, but may then become outdated.

    MedComms Networking - 03 April 2018

We've a busy year ahead, with lots of plans for the services at for wannabes. There's much more we can do together. So please, everyone, help spread the word. MedComms needs lots more people in all roles. We provide useful information online at by way of articles and videos and so on (note I'm very keen to get more, so let me know if you'd like to contribute) but, as always, it's the meetings where the really interesting results are achieved. Three meetings are coming up for wannabes...

Our next Meet the Agencies Day is in Oxford on 14 May. It's a strictly limited number of places and we're nearly full. If you know you want to join MedComms in the near future then this one could make all the difference.

Then there are two new dates we've just announced:

We're back in London on 27 June after a three year absence for another Open Careers event! Everyone's welcome. These events are well-proven, whether you are just asking what MedComms is all about or you know you want a job and want to find it quickly. We'll have 15 agencies there, which means probably 50 or so MedComms specialists, all happy to chat about career options.

And we've confirmed our next unique workshop specifically for wannabe Medical Writers is in London on 12 July. Our trial event in February went really well and we're now committed to making this a regular event, led by specialist trainer, John Dixon and hosted by Media Contacts. There are strictly limited spaces at this one and having only announced it at the end of last week we're already half-full!

Importantly, in light of the success and very positive feedback we've had from our two careers guides, The business of medical communications: a guide to getting started in account management and From academic to medical writer: a guide to getting started in medical communications, we're now going to publish a third sister publication, focusing on specialist market access and HEOR writing. It's being written now by freelance market access consultant, Linda Harrison for publication in June. So, if your company specialises in market access and HEOR writing and you'd like to participate in this new careers guide, please give me a shout.

It's important to acknowledge that none of all these activities for the wannabes would happen without the continued support and generosity of all the Sponsors of MedComms Networking but especially those agencies that support itself; AMICULUM, Ashfield Healthcare Communications, Envision Pharma Group, Fishawack Group, Highfield:Communication, Lucid Group and Oxford PharmaGenesis. All of them have confirmed they'll continue to support us for the coming 12 months - so huge kudos, guys. If you'd like to join them, let me know.

Have a great week. If you fancy joining us in Oxford tomorrow, Wednesday 4 April, you're welcome at our Brunch Club meeting. Anyone's welcome, and lunch is on me! If not, the free webcasts will appear at very soon.
