    MedComms Networking - 03 January 2017

Welcome to 2017, everyone. Let's all have a good one.

As you'll know by now, we celebrate 10 years of #MedComms Networking activity on 25 January when I'm hoping to see lots of online activity, acknowledging the strides forward taken by the MedComms community over the last 10 years and looking forward to those we'll now take over the coming 10. I've just launched our new Thunderclap so please support us, individually and as organisations, to amplify the #MedComms message to friends, colleagues and contacts right across the industry and the wider world on the day itself. Please also use your Linkedin status to spread the message. We do good work here - let's shout about it.

I'm particularly keen to see lots of you in Oxford on 25 January, at The Jam Factory (which coincidently is also 10 years old - as is the iPhone apparently!). We've lots of space and the aim is to fill it. We'll have party hats, good food and drink, and hopefully at least one rendition of "Happy Birthday". I've been thinking maybe we'll try for a MedComms Mannequin Challenge as well. My kids said "that's so last year" but I reckon that would be a step forward for MedComms and Pharma, which is often accused of being a decade or so behind the times. I'm keen - is anyone else up for it?

Feel free to celebrate locally as well, wherever in the world you are, and share news of what you get up to.

So, sign up to join us in Oxford, if you can, help spread the word and please encourage all relevant others to join us. We're close to 100 guests but I want more!

Meanwhile, we'll kick off 2017 with another Brunch meeting tomorrow, talking about various publishing activities and CME updates. Join us if you want to meet the Speakers, otherwise keep an eye out for the free webcasts that will be added ASAP to the library at

By the way, we already have presentations lined up for the next couple of Brunch meetings as well. On 1 February we're working with Ashfield Healthcare Communications to provide more insights in to careers in MedComms and specifically how the Ashfield group work, as well as a review of patient engagement activities. Then on 1 March we'll hear about increasing impact of research via social media, the ABPI Code of Practice and how it impacts on MedComms, and get some top tips for writing for patients and the public. You're welcome to sign up to join us, anytime you like.

We've also got our next MedComms Careers event next week and don't forget if you're going to ISMPP's European meeting online registrations close tomorrow. It's great to see Carl Heneghan aka @carlheneghan is a keynote speaker. I look forward to seeing many of you there.

Enjoy your week, everyone. Best to ignore news like this - Dentists call to end 'workplace cake culture'. How else would MedComms keep going?
